EXPLORING THE LIMITS OF DIGITAL PRODUCTION
Memory is a dialogue between past and future, an embodiment of humanity's ongoing quest to harmonize the enduring essence of tradition with the transformative power of technology. The rug's design, inspired by the circuitry of modern digital devices, symbolizes the interconnectedness of our lives in the digital age. By reinterpreting the intricate patterns of an oriental rug—one of the oldest forms of artistic expression—it bridges the gap between the tactile and the intangible, the handcrafted and the automated.
This project also serves as a metaphor for the broader cultural shift toward blending the artisanal with the digital. The act of cutting and reassembling wool layers mirrors how we reconstruct meaning and identity in a world shaped by constant technological evolution. The precision achieved through digital manufacturing is not just technical; it reflects humanity’s aspiration for perfection in an imperfect world, where tradition is not discarded but refined and reimagined.
Ultimately, Memory invites us to reflect on the essence of creation itself. It challenges us to question: how do we preserve the richness of our past while embracing the limitless possibilities of the future? It is an artifact that speaks to the resilience of human creativity, transcending time to celebrate the convergence of legacy and innovation.
RESEARCH MANUFACTURING PROCESSES
This project aimed to explore options for digitally manufacturing a traditional material. By cutting layers of pure wool felt in different thicknesses and reassembling them, we created a three-dimensional product. The materials enabled high precision in cutting and dimensional accuracy
